About

Dr. McNeil has more than 10 years of experience as a professional counselor. He has worked as a certified rehabilitation counselor for several state vocational rehabilitation (VR) agencies and as a human resource (HR) professional for several Fortune 500 companies, including Lowe’s, Prudential, and Amazon. Dr. McNeil has also taught graduate courses in counseling at Duquesne University and the University of North Texas.

Dr. McNeil is an active member of the ACA and NBCC, former Board Member of the CRCC, and Past President of CSI - Delta Upsilon Chapter, an international honor society that values academic and professional excellence in counseling.

Dr. McNeil’s current research interests include visual disabilities, disability barriers in the workplace, disability rights and advocacy, and intersectionality. In 2021, Dr. McNeil’s work in the field was recognized by the Partnership on Inclusive Apprenticeship (PIA) and the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Disability Employment Policy (ODEP).

Dr. McNeil currently resides in the Carolinas, and he is a proud father of two children: James IV and Elijah.
