Eddie Stevens joined Carolina University in August 2023 as the Director of Sports Medicine, bringing over thirty years of experience in athletic training and sports medicine. Prior to this role, he spent seventeen years directing the Sports Medicine program at Salem Academy and College, and he is well-acquainted with Carolina University, having previously served in a PRN capacity.

Stevens earned his Bachelor of Science in Physical Education from Winston-Salem State University in 1989, followed by a Master of Science in Athletic Training from West Virginia University in 1994. His extensive work history includes significant roles such as Head Athletic Trainer and Lecturer at Salem Academy and College since 2006, Liaison Athletic Trainer at Piedmont International University, and Sports Medicine Director at Winston-Salem State University, where he helped establish the groundwork for the institution’s first minor in Sports Medicine.

His career also includes valuable experiences in various athletic training roles, such as serving as Athletic Trainer for DC Public Schools and Proactive Therapy, and as a Physical Therapist Assistant at the Washington D.C. Sports Medicine Center. Stevens has worked as a liaison athletic trainer at Atkins High School and held leadership positions at Kernersville’s Specific Sports Medicine.

Eddie’s professional skills encompass injury prevention, evaluation, management, treatment, and rehabilitation, as well as fitness assessment and counseling. He has a proven track record in planning, organizing, and managing sports events and clinics. His managerial strengths include policy development, operational efficiency, and personnel training and supervision.

Throughout his career, Stevens has contributed to numerous athletic organizations, including local high schools and collegiate teams, as well as events like the Junior Olympics and the Atlanta 1996 Paralympics. As a dedicated member of the National Athletic Trainers' Association (NATA), he is actively involved in the certification process for future NATA members.

Originally from Faison, NC, Eddie Stevens is committed to providing exceptional care and support to student-athletes at Carolina University, ensuring their health and safety in pursuit of excellence in sports.
