Reyna, Dr. Kayli

Dr. Kayli S. Reyna was born and raised in Alamance County, North Carolina. Before entering the public library field, Dr. Reyna was privileged to work with Teach for America as a High School Math One Teacher in North Carolina. With her master's degree, Dr. Reyna applied the practical skills she learned through her MLS program in central New Jersey public libraries as a successful Reference Librarian and Youth Services Supervisor. In these positions, Dr. Reyna developed and led several educational programs for adults, teens, and children. In addition, Dr. Reyna developed the leadership skills necessary to be successful as a Library Director of a County Public library in North Carolina with a population of over 40,000. During her tenure as a Library Director, Dr. Reyna managed a complete library ADA renovation, obtained grant funding for a teen space, and mentored raising librarians in the field.

In 2024, Dr. Reyna graduated from Grand Canyon University with a Doctorate in Organizational Leadership with an Emphasis in Organizational Development. Dr. Reyna's dissertation focused on the relationship between Perceived Ethical Leadership, Social Exchange, and Employee Engagement in public libraries across the United States.

In addition to her full-time responsibilities, she is actively working on publishing manuscripts in public library leadership journals and planning to conduct further research to help support leaders in public libraries across the United States. Dr. Reyna has been hired to serve as an adjunct professor in leadership at Carolina University and is looking forward to mentoring students and anyone interested in applying their leadership knowledge in their current and future roles.
