About
Dr. Jimmy A. Payne, Jr., is originally from St. Peters, Missouri. He served 24 years in the United States Navy, retiring in 2010 as a Lieutenant Commander. He is a Program Analyst for the Department of the Navy, where he has worked since retiring from active duty.
He is a Regent University graduate, earning his Doctorate of Philosophy in organizational leadership at Regent University's School of Business and Leadership Studies. His research has focused on destructive leadership, ethics, and failed organizations. He earned a B.S. in business administration and technical management, an M.B.A., and an M.S. in technical management, with a program management specialization from the University of Maryland University College.
Additionally, he is qualified as a leadership development trainer through the Alpha Phi Omega LEADS program and has earned his Certified Nonprofit Professional (C.N.P.) credential.
Dr. Payne's educational background in Business Administration, Technical Management, and Organizational Leadership has allowed him to apply his expertise in academia and the real world. He has applied team building, budget management, and program execution in action, including many different elements of ethical training. As a Program Analyst for the Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA), he oversees 22 teams. He oversees the life cycle maintenance for the Guided Missile Cruisers in the Navy's current inventory. He has been hand-selected to fill the position with the newest frigate class of ships expected to be delivered in 2027. Additionally, he has developed new communication processes and deliverable review and submission methods to address the needs of his teams during the pandemic.
He is a member of the International Leadership Association, which allows him to network with fellow learners worldwide.
Additionally, he is a Dissertation Chair/Committee Member for Carolina University starting in September 2023, which will allow him to work with learners as they continue to work toward completing their dissertations and moving into the world of academics.
