About
Jacob Heck is entering his second year as the Head Men’s Basketball Coach at Carolina University. In his inaugural season, he led the Bruins to a 14-12 overall record and a 5-4 conference mark, culminating in a semifinal appearance at the Regional Tournament. Under his guidance, Micah Cooper was recognized as the NCCAA South Region Player of the Year, earned All-American honors, and was named Carolina University Male Athlete of the Year. The Bruins also featured two Scholar Athletes during this successful campaign.
Before becoming Head Coach, Heck served as Associate Head Coach during the Bruins' best season in program history. In 2021-22, the team achieved a remarkable 22-7 regular-season record, captured their first Regional Championship, and finished third in the National Tournament while ranking #7 nationally. During that season, he helped lead the Bruins to become the top-ranked defensive team in the NCCAA and coached Kester Ofoegbu, the NCCAA South Region Player of the Year and a 1st Team All-American.
Originally from Rapid City, SD, Heck holds a Bachelor's degree in Education (Middle School Math and Science) and a B.S. in Biblical Studies from Grace University, as well as a Master’s in Educational Leadership from Northwest Missouri State.
As a player at Grace University from 2013 to 2016, Heck was a two-time regional champion and team captain, earning NCCAA Scholar Athlete honors and the Grace Royal Award in 2015-2016.
His coaching career began at Rapid City Central High School, where he served as Head Freshman/Assistant Varsity Coach. He also held coaching positions at Nebraska Christian College and Carolina University, contributing to various administrative roles along the way.
