Cofer, Dr. Vashti
About
Dr. Vashti Cofer is an experienced educator with a strong background in English instruction, writing support, and student mentoring. She holds a M.A. in English from North Carolina A&T State University, and an M.A.T. in English Education in African American Literature, from North Carolina A&T State University. Over the course of her career, she has served in diverse roles, including Writing Center Director and Adjunct Professor at Livingstone College, where she also mentored and supervised writing tutors. She has also taught English at Forsyth Technical Community College, Davidson County Community College, and North Carolina A&T State University. Her teaching experience spans college and secondary education, with years of service in North Carolina, Virginia, and Maryland schools, where she taught courses in English literature, writing, and ACT preparation.
Beyond the classroom, Dr. Cofer has been deeply involved in mentoring students, particularly through programs supporting first-generation learners and young women. She has combined her skills in communication, problem-solving, and curriculum development with a passion for literature and student success. In addition to her teaching, she has worked as an editor, proofreader, and tutor, helping students and professionals strengthen their writing and communication skills. With her licensure in English education and her broad experience across higher education and K–12, Dr. Cofer brings creativity, dedication, and a student-centered approach to every role she serves.
