About

Dr. Manuel Joseph Ricardo, Jr. received his BS in biology and chemistry from the University of Florida, MS in botany and Biochemistry from the University of South Florida and PhD in microbiology and immunology from the University of Georgia. He was a research fellow and instructor at Johns Hopkins University, an assistant professor of microbiology and immunology at the University of Tennessee School of Medicine (Memphis,TN), associate professor/professor of microbiology and immunology at Wake Forest University School of Medicine and professor of biology at Bennett College (Greensboro, NC). He is currently professor of biology and health sciences at Carolina University. His student traineeships includes postdoctoral, doctoral, medical, dental, nursing and undergraduate students. He has served as a grant application reviewer for the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse and as a peer-reviewer for the Journal of Immunology and Journal of Leukocyte Biology. He was awarded several research grants from the National Institutes of Health and the American Cancer Society. He has published 60 research articles in immunobiology in peer-reviewed journals. He has held membership in the American Association of Immunologists, the American Society for Microbiology and the American Association for the Advancement of Science. He has an avid interest in the visual arts, culinary arts and enology.
