About
Tiphanie Magne has been an Assistant Professor of Business at Carolina University since Fall 2020. She graduated with a joint Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Delaware in partnership with the University of Lyon. Her dissertation investigates the impacts of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) mandates, notably the advanced premium tax credits and Medicaid expansion on labor supply and health outcomes.
Her research interests are in labor economics, health economics, and organizational behavior. She is passionate about using data analysis, machine learning techniques, and statistical software such as Python and Stata to evaluate the impacts of public policies on income inequality, employment, health disparities, and substance abuse. Her teaching interests include microeconomics, development economics, international business, organizational behavior, and leadership theory.
Tiphanie’s professional and educational backgrounds in economics and business are valuable assets and contributions to the business and leadership programs at Carolina University. Tiphanie moved to the US from France in 2013 and has +5 years of experience as an instructor teaching diverse groups of undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral students. She also has experience working as an academic advisor, mentor for international students, and commercial assistant.
Tiphanie presented her research at various economics conferences such as the Annual Meeting of the American Economic Association (AEA), the 7th International Ph.D. Meeting of the University of Macedonia, the Research Symposium of the University of Delaware, and the GATE seminar at the University of Lyon. Her Master's thesis has won the Sally Latham Graduate Research Award, and she is a member of the Omicron Delta Epsilon, an international honor society in the field of Economics.
