Carlene Alexander currently works in Canada as Ontario’s Comptroller General and Deputy Minister at Treasury Board Secretariat. 

Carlene is a seasoned and accomplished senior leader who has worked in the public sector for more than 20 years. She has held several executive positions in federal, provincial, and municipal governments as well as the school board sector. 

Prior to her current role, Carlene worked at the Toronto District School Board (TDSB), one of the largest school boards in North America, where she was the Interim Director of Education, responsible for leading TDSB in executing a safe return to school plan during the COVID-19 pandemic. Prior to this, she held the position of Associate Director of Business Operations and Service Excellence at TDSB where she oversaw the board’s $3.4 billion budget, all of the TDSB’s facilities, human resources and all other business and operational functions. 

Carlene holds a Bachelor of Commerce, a Masters of Business Administration, and holds a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation.  

Carlene has been teaching in the CPA program since 2003.
